How high to hang a dartboard, Solved! | Pickdartboard

How high to hang a dartboardDarts is an exciting game that you can play at home other than a play room. The question may arise in your mind: how high to hang a dartboard. The answer is that there are specific rules for setting up a dartboard, either at your home, in a play room, or an international competition. Safety comes first when you are playing darts at home.

The setting up of a dartboard at home is not difficult, expensive, or hectic. You can conveniently hang the board in your home. Follow the rules of the Darts Regulation Authority to ensure that you are setting the it on its exact location. The advantage of following such rules is that you’ll ensure the safety of spectators.

Official rules for hanging:

First of all, select a vast and comfortable area for playing darts. Must reserve some extra secure sitting area for your friends and participants. When you are done with all this, now move on to the placement of the board.

How to hang a dartboard

It’s time to explore the answer. A board’s height from floor to the middle of the bullseye is 5 feet 8 inches or 1.73 meters. It is the international measurement of its height. Whether you are using a bristle board or an electronic board, the measurement will be the same for both.

The horizontal distance of throw line:

After measuring the dartboard’s official height, now it’s the turn to measure the distance of the throw line. We measure the horizontal distance from the front of the board to the throw line or toe line. The distance of the throw line differs for steel tip and soft tip darts.

The horizontal measurement for steel tip darts is 7 feet 9 ¼ inches (2.37 meters). For soft tip darts, the horizontal measurement will be 8 feet (2.44 meters).

You can measure the distance of throw line very easily. Keep it in your mind that the measurement should not start from the wall. It must begin from the face of the board. By throwing a string from the front of the board to the ground, you can measure the horizontal distance.

The diagonal distance of throw line:

The diagonal measurement is the other way to find out the distance between the bullseye and the throw line. By this, we can also find out how high we should hang. The distance would differ for both: steel tip and soft tip dartboards.

9 feet 7 ⅜ inches (2.93 meters) is the diagonal gap for steel tip dartboards. The diagonal distance for soft tip dartboards is 9 feet 9 ½ inches (2.98 meters).

For horizontal measurement, call a friend to help you. He will place the measuring tape on the bullseye and will throw it down towards the floor. Then you can measure from where the throw line should start and how high the dartboard should be. If you are alone, it’s also possible for you to fix the board without anyone’s help. Utilize the measuring tape and fix a dart in the hole to help you measure the distance.

The floor of darts playing area is an essential element to look at. The stone, tiles, or concrete floor can break or distort the darts. The steel tips can prod the wood or vinyl floor. Thus, cover the ground with a dart mat to protect the floor and darts both.

Fixing procedure:

When you are done with the measurements, now it’s time to hang the board. Some people directly mount the dartboard on the wall; I think it’s not a good option. It’s better to mount it on a backing surface.

The dartboard is easy to fix through the metal hanger kit. Make sure you have all the required equipment for mounting. The tools needed to fix the board are U-shape hanging bracket, center screw, and three spring clips.

Fix the spring clips at the rear of board to keep a distance between the wall and the dartboard. There is no exact location for the placement of spring clips. Fix them in a way that it’s formation looks like a triangle.  Apply the U-shape bracket on the backing surface or the wall.

Now put the center screw into the back middle hole of board. Then fix it in a way that the half remains outside so you can easily hang it.

Now you are all set to hang the dartboard onto the bracket. If the board is not tight or start jiggling on a single touch, remove it. Look for the issue, and fix it. If the screw is tight or loose, adjust it accordingly, and hang it again. The dartboard is ready so, start the game and enjoy the thrill of your favorite game.

Now you know the overall hanging process. You can also help your friends to hang theirs. While your friends praise your knowledge, don’t forget to write back to us about your experience.
